What an impactful speech, Eric Church, the headliner at The Route 91 Harvest Festival, gave at The Grand Ole OPRY, after the Las Vegas Tragedy took place. Two of my mentors were very close when it happened. Watching their Facebook feeds made the tragedy even more real to me, than just reading about it in the paper.
No one can seem to make sense of how something like this can happen, yet it is human nature to try to close the loop, that goes on in the brain as it tries to figure it out. How sad it is to see how many people were effected and families forever changed.
There was a beauty in the little things that happened and I felt called to share a couple of them. My teacher posted that blood clinics were turning people away because they had enough blood donations and she went to help others by providing crisis counselling. This Facebook post came to me from a friend, about a surgeon that she had worked with, whom donated his time to help, https://www.facebook.com/MILESMOMMY/posts/10210254087045458
I recently attended a talk given by Dave Sanderson, here in Vancouver BC. He has a Tedx talk on Post Traumatic Growth, PTGS. I asked him why he figures people have such different responded to tragedy and he told me it has to do with the story they tell themselves when something traumatic happens. He shares, “How you can grow from a traumatic event.”
My heartfelt prayers are with everyone that was affected by this tragedy and I pray they find peace and healing in time.
